This calls for strategic intervention by stakeholders to address the current gaps and deficiencies in order to steer the development of the new cities and the capital city Kampala.
Cities Consortium was therefore, born out of the pressing need to support the building of the new Uganda Cities and the regeneration of Kampala City. Through research, education and trainings, provision of services and implementing city oriented programs, Cities Consortium plays a much needed role in supporting and facilitating the development of Uganda’s cities.
Through engaging with Cities Consortium, cities have an opportunity to share and exchange knowledge with local and international counterparts, test new solutions, building a greener, resilient and more prosperous future.
We leverage the collective vision and aspirations of the new cities to support and facilitate the envisioned social economic transformation guided by Uganda’s National Development Plans, the SDGs and the New Urban Agenda.
We are grateful to all stakeholders and recognize the role other organizations have played over the years in the urbanization agenda of Uganda. We therefore, seek to complement their efforts in view of the fast changing environment; creation of new cities, gaps, emerging challenges and theory of change.
We welcome support and partnerships from Government of Uganda, International Development Agencies, Donors, NGOs, Cities and City Planners and Urban Experts to support our vision and mission.
