The strategic objectives of Cities Consortium are -:
1. To lobby and advocate for policies which facilitate the development of safe, livable, equitable, resilient, inclusive and sustainable cities in Uganda.
2. To carry out research on enduring urban challenges, identify opportunities and innovative solutions to urban and city challenges.
3. To promote good governance, democratic norms and principles in cities, foster gender sensitivity and inclusivity of all city inhabitants.
4. To carry out capacity building for institutional strengthening and knowledge transfer for city leaders, managers and administrators on city-pertinent issues.
5. To support the strengthening of decentralization and fiscal self-sufficiency of city authorities.
6. To support the implementation of city development programs in partnership with government, city authorities, stakeholders, civil society and international development partners.
7. To promote the adoption of smart city technologies and digitalize the functioning of cities.
8. To facilitate city twinning programs, city cooperation agreements, peer to peer learning, education, bench marking, exposure and cultural exchanges between local, regional and international cities.
9. To provide a platform for raising awareness about climate change and its effect on the planet earth.
10. To promote climate change mitigation and adaptation measures, energy efficient solutions, efficient solid waste management and the development of circular economy in cities.
11. To promote the greening of cities, development of open spaces, conservation of wet lands, protection of water bodies and mitigate environmental pollution in cities.
12. To identify and highlight investment and business opportunities in cities which conform to the organization’s vision and mission.
13. To support the alleviation of urban poverty through vocational skilling and establishment of youth innovation centres.
14. To organize city expositions, events, seminars, conferences and symposiums for the promotion and development of cities.
15. To advocate for the development of low cost and affordable housing to meet the social needs of decent shelter in cities.
16. To establish an online data and resource centre as a repository of information and data on all cities in Uganda, emerging city issues, challenges and envisaged solutions.
